    Learning the ropes in Wisconsin

Hello! I'm so glad I discovered this forum although I wish I would have found it a few months sooner. Three years ago my husband introduced me to the Boundary Waters and so far we've been able to go every year since but we've been sleeping in a tent. The first year I froze. Last year was a little better mostly because I didn't forget to bring my sleeping pad. This year was the best so far, but still in a tent. Upon our return, I discover that there are these awesome hammock setups that I could actually camp in. The thing is, I actually brought a hammock with me but only used it for lounging in during the day. The thought never even crossed my mind that I could be sleeping in comfort out there in the woods. I have a ENO single that I purchased a week before our trip this year. It is stock so far. We are currently waiting for supplies to arrive so that we can begin working on our own DIY setups.

Besides hanging out here, I enjoy running, photography, cycling, camping, fishing, a couple other forums, and facebook.

So, thanks for the newest obsession!

    Laura

Welcome to HF Laura, I paddle lots, and always hang, waterfront hangs are really special.

Welcome Laura to the HFs. You'll want to read up on Under Quilts (UQs) and Top Quilts (TQs) if you want to stay warm!

Welcome from another Wisconsinite. I love paddling and hanging...when combined it's bliss! Good luck with the new obsession.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I look forward to soaking up as much knowledge as possible from all of you. And yes, I will be sure to read up on cold weather insulation. My husband could probably survive at any temperature with no more than a windbreaker but I am always cold. Sometimes I wonder about my Finnish heritage.

We are from WI too. We love the BWCA also. Took my bride there for a week for our 20th Anniversary. We both love to hang but she is not convinced yet to have her own overnite hang. Lots to learn here. Glad you joined us.
