first DIY-fabric lots of ???

i am ready to make my own hammock. i need the following fabric requirements:
I am 6'2" 300lbs
I would like a stealthy color
Lighter is better, but i am no gram weenie

i am guessing a double layer 1.9 RS, but in the speer book he recomends supplex or cordura for my weight...

my suspension will be webbing (black), dutch clip, marlinspike toggle, and 7/64whoopie slings (black)

sewing is no problem so a whipped or gathered end is fine which is better?
fabric sources:
i like the OD RS at backwoods daydreamer and the supplex MARPAT at rockywoods too...

so any suggestions???

Sounds like you're on the right track already, Natureboy! 1.9 ripstop or 70denier supplex (70d is the same thing as 1.9) would both be fine.
Whipped/gathered: That's a personal preference thing. I prefer a W whipping in a double sheet bend. Made it easy to redo when I was getting it dialed in. If you hem the ends, go ahead and make it a little larger so you can thread a string through and gather that way. And if you decide to go with a whipping, it's no biggie to have that "channel" there.

did some recon at Jo-Anns for fabrics and found taffeta in the fashion section but it was too shiny and it was 9.99/yd so went over to the outdoor fabrics section and found ripstop and sport nylon for 6.99/yd i remember reading here somewhere that the "sport" nylon is really 210 cordura which should hold my weight. the only stealthy color was black and kelly green, with some coupons i think the sport nylon will work...will report back soon!

Did you ever decide on fabric? I think I am in the same boat.. deciding between 200d uncoated nylon oxford or doing a double layer of 1.9oz ripstop, or maybe a supplex fabric...

I've looked at the fabric at Joannes also and would wait for the coupon if possible. My problem is that the only color that I'd consider is a very bright green. Wish they would stock up on some other greens and maybe a tan or lighter anything.
