    Draped janky bugnet

    Hey all...
Bought a Mombassa Bug Net and cut the top portion out and one of the side seams so that I have one long piece of netting...

I wont have time before my next outing to sew it properly and so just draped it over the ridgeline and rolled the sides @ approx 45 degrees and clipped the rolls with office clips... Eventually I want to make this into the Papa Smurf Open Bottom Bugnet

I guess that I am wondering about any ideas that come to mind when looking at this as a temporary measure... Maybe more clever / more lightweight clips to use for holding the rolled up sides... or anything else! Thanks for looking!

I'm not sure what design you're going for, but I've just used a 5' piece of chiffon with pockets stitched on, as per risk's design. Put headlamp/pocketknife/lighter etc in the pockets, it weight the net down and holds it closed.

Otherwise, you could just get a very small string and tie it closed through the holes (assuming you don't want to unroll it often... would be a hassle to undo a lot). You could also just use a twist-tie you find on bread packages through and twist it around the part of the net you want held in place.

    Hope it helps!

Thanks... I like the possibility that it would simply stay shut by weight in the pockets!

    That's funny

I've actually used that same netting bro. I just clipped the top section together by threading the rings through it, then I went down on each end, cut a little hole in each end and used Gorilla tape to make the holes secure, and then hang it above the hammock and rig the ends through the holes.

I'm thinking of cutting it on the big sides and attaching velcro or zippers to make two bug nettings, one for each.

What about making a channel on the bottom and putting some shock cord in it? Then it will just shut on it's on and you won't need any clips.

.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.
