    Thinking about a Hammock

Iv'e been lurking for sometime now. I have been a memeber for a while, just reading and not posting any questions. Considering buying a Hammock and am looking hard at the WBBB.
My son has an ENO and loves it. I had a old Jungle Hammock as a teen and used it quite a bit (that was over 40 yrs ago).
I have watched quite a few video's and lots of Shugs (talk about a character......lol ).
Just a warning, you mite see me ask some dumb questions soon.

    Loneoak,

Welcome. No dumb questions here. But, many have asked the same ones, so read over the posts and search for your related topic - for example... WBBB and bite thru or ENO and Sag. Or feel free to ask!

Most of the members here are very informed and know of all the leading brands on the market. Some of the members actually make the leading brands for backpacking, like Brandon (Warbonnetguy).

A blackbird is top of the line for hammocks. It would be a great choice. Try out the "search" button too. You can find tons of info already on here. Welcome to HF!

Wow you guys are quick. I have a brand new ENO, still unused, I will probably be taking back to Rock Creek and put that towards at 1.1 WBBB. I'm 5'10" and weigh in the 185-190 range.
I don't think I need the 1.7 and looks like there is quite a bit of weight savings between the two.
Thanks for the warm welcome and I try to use the search feature as much as possible. I have been a member on WB for sometime, and i see that several of the members here are also over there.
I am having more trouble deciding on a tarp more than a hammock, so many choices.

Don't count out the ENO. I love mine. Great to have around for a quick fix. Not much to set up like some of the ones on here. I throw mine in my picnic bag and take it down to the river when the kids go swimming or to the park when I want to swing too.

Welcome to HF from Mass. You can't really go wrong with any of the hammock choices around here...a bad day in hammock is still better than a good day on the ground!

The unfortunate thing about hammocks is you really have to try them out. You can read every post in the forums and it really won't help nearly as much as laying in the hammocks you are interested in. I went to a group hang and found out I didn't really like the WBBB. I did find out that I love bridge hammocks. I also hung in a ENO and thought it was very comfortable. Try not to get side tracked with all the bells and whistles(shelves, ridgelines, etc). At the end of the day it all comes down to which one will give you the best nights sleep. Good luck with your search!
