It is slight IMHO for an easy and clean solution.
Another wonderful thread on this very topic, if you do decide to go with a spliced option as compared to knots (as you originally intended ).
The McDonald Brummel method is much easier with the tiny diameter line. The step in the video where you have to work the inverted section back through is nearly impossible to do without mangling the little strands on Lash-It/Zing-It. In contrast, the McDonald approach just rights itself when you pull the loop through.
It's still a pain splicing those little lines, though.
Both unlocked and locked leave a slight bulge.
My experience is that the bulge on the locked is really no bigger than the unlocked. I think it depends on how tight you pull the lock before doing the buries. The tighter you pull the lock before doing the buries, the smaller the bulge.
But I may be biased since I no longer want to do the stitching on the buries and I do not trust the splice long term without either the stitching or the lock. I know one person who does both. He says he isn't paranoid, but then ....
