    BlackBird mirror image-Noob needs advice

    Purchasing Blackbird and need advice.

Does mirror image help a right side sleeper? Seems on standard version you would look into the side of the hammock and the mirror image you would face the side with the pull out. Does this help??

Thanks in advance - This is a great community forum!

You are right, the mirror image hammock would have you look toward the zippered opening side and away from the shelf when lay on your right side. I have the standard hammock and I can sleep on either side, on my back or somewhere in between - all possible when in a gathered end hammock. (I am usually a right sided sleeper in bed and can never sleep on my back in a bed, but have no problem in a hammock.) I don't honestly think it is going to make much difference for you, but why not go for it.

In my bed I will start out on my right side and sometime in the night I will go to the left and it worked out good in my BB, but like SlowBro said it may not make much difference but go for it! BTW I am a shorty 5'5" so YMMV...

i have a mirrored wbbb- as i tend to sleep on my right side at home on the occasion i sleep in a bed.

that said.. yes, if you like sleeping on your right side... do the mirrored wbbb, or 'lefty'. i've owned a traditional wbbb, and prefer the mirror.

I have a stock 1.7 dbl with the foot box on the right and I end up sleeping on my back and both sides during the night and for me it is not a problem.

I've ordered a mirror image BB but mostly because my sleeping bag zipper opens on the right. I do tend to sleep on my right side as well.

You may find that opening your bag and using it more as a quilt will be more satisfactory. Climbing into a sleeping bag in a hammock can be an acrobatic endeavor. But every one finds the ways that work best for them. You will like your 'Bird.

I have the mirrored or reverse WBBB. I am too a "hardcore" right side sleeper, in a bed.

In the hammock I just find being on my back so much more comfortable than it is in a bed. I rarely find myself trying to be on my side in the BB. Also I have to raise up a touch to see out the mesh when on my side and the fabric is still right there at your face on either side.

So my opinion is if you are looking at getting the mirrored version because you are a side sleeper, I wouldn't get in my mind that it is the be all end all way to go. The main benefit I get is that my sleeping bag is a right hand zip and it is easier to get into because of the hammock set up.

Let me know how the sleeping bag issue works out for you. It would be a plus for my girlfriend.
