    Blackbird adjustable webbing buckle question

    Hi,

I've been testing out my new BB 1.1 and have a problem with the buckles slipping. This is the newer model of adjustable webbing with the cinch buckles and according to the directions it should not require a backup knot to prevent slipping.

However, in my tests in the backyard the cinch buckles are still slipping. The only way I could get it secure is by tying a knot in the webbing around the buckle. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Its not a big deal if I have to keep tying knots but I am wondering if maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm going on a backpack trip in about a week and half and I want to make sure I have a firm grasp on the setup beforehand.

Can you post a picture of how it looks when it has slipped? I can't see the cinch buckles on mine slipping. They are usually harder to undo at times. Maybe the newer ones are made a little different?

Like Bubba, I have more trouble getting my webbing to lengthen than I do with slippage. However, I tie the slippery half hitches anyway....just like any knot (or buckle in this case) I tie, I back it up with some sort of safety, especially when my *** is hanging from it !!!!!

I am thinking I have the new ones also (received it 6/19) and I haven't had a problem with slipping.
Here is my strapping/buckles, sorry about the dirty sock

Yeah, those are the buckles I have. Here are two pics from different angles. I can just pull with a little force on the hammock side and they slide really easily.

Yeah I think backing it up with a knot isn't really bad thing anyway, I just can't help thinking I'm missing something really obvious

It must be threaded wrong !
Hard to tell by that angle on the picture.

Like the others my problem is to release it and i never bother with a knot

Here is a pic , how mine is threaded.
The webbing on the bottom goes to the tree, maybe that has been switched on yours ?
    That causes slippage !

Trown in as a bonus, old school cinch buckle (heavy, but no prob releasing ).

Thanks for the picture! I oriented mine as you have shown and sure enough the bottom webbing is excess and the top is the one with the biner.

I'll rethread these tomorrow and give it another go.

    Yep. Webbing is mis-threaded.

I am at 300# and my WBBB buckles don;t slip at all.

Yeah, it looks to me like they are threaded incorrectly. The webbing from the tree goes through both buckles from the bottom and then over the first buckle and back through the bottom buckle back towards the tree parallel and on top of the webbing thats coming from the tree.

Also it should be noted that with these buckles you should NOT put a back up knot in place. The knot can cause the webbing to twist in the buckle which could cause it to be pinched in a way that could create massive failure of the webbing.
