I like gadgits. It is somewhat over whelming when starting out hanging with all the choices/possibilities. I would not trade my Dutch goodies and whoopie slings in for the old way--knots. I use an all in one-tree straps, descenders and Dutch clips. The same goes for the tarp, Tarp flyz, Dutch hook and Dutch mini biners. I could set up in the dark if I had to. Everything is attached and in the Bishop bag. Works for me. I'm glad that everyone doesn't like what I like. The cost would sky rocket if everyone liked the same thing and it would be hard to find!
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

I've concluded that knots are like singing.
For some people, it's easy. It just comes natural and they enjoy it.
For others... well they have a radio or an ipod to put music in their lives.
It's something for everyone and no one gets left out.

I don't see how it can get any better than mini carabiners and prussiks (like Arrowhead sells), at least for tarp ridgelines. This setup is the pinnacle of ridgeline innnovation for me. All these little trinkets would be lost by the end of day one with me.
My only aluminum trinket is the Dutch Biner. I use it to connect whoopies to tree straps and really like it.

We all tend to find a system or two that work best for us. For me, as a moto camper, I find that six of my motorcycle bungies are even more simple than your system and my go to set up. The alternative system is a CRL with Prussiks, biners, and tie out lines (the knots used are even more simple than me ). Works.

    a) works = good
    b) simple = good
    c) new=good; only if (also a) or (also a+b)
KM(who is trying to recall the boolean notations..)
