HC4U, what is up with your new avitar?
Anyhow 2?s delivered my explorer with full zip to the MAHHA. Actually it is full zip on one side and 1/3 of the other. As everyone else has said the quality is absolute perfection. Now that I have had it done though I question the need for the full zip. It is nice if you want to pull it back and tie it out of the way. However to get in and out you only need the right side from the whipping to the tie out. If you unzip it the entire length it is too hard (at least for my old bones) to reach down to your feet to zip it shut. So I think if you only want a top loaded HH just get the 1/2 zip. The full zip is nice if you want to be able to roll up the bugnet. At least that is how it works with my explorer. A ulba may be tougher to get in and out of with a 1/2 zip.

Mostly because I haven't mastered putting bugnets on my DIY hammocks yet I use my HHs for bug season so I would never sleep with it pulled back and tied. YMMV

All in all I am really glad I got it done.
    Peace Dutch

    Dutch,

The biggest reason I went with the full zip was so I could put Sgt. Rock style "pocket pad" in my 8 and 11 year old's Scout model HH's (plus making my own life a bit easier) . Made 'em like this:

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...?t=1905&page=5

It was quite a pain to dive up through the opening and fumble around under that bug net trying to get the pad and bag set for them, especially when it was 30 degrees and the boys were freezing! I'd finally get one done then have another to do. I kept wishing "If only they could put their own pads and bags in, we'd be set!!".

Will report back when I get 'em.

On my LEX I tied a long string to the zipper pull at the foot end. This allows me to get the zipper to a point where i can reach it with out any any hassle. Once i have the zipper in hand, I put the string on the outside of the netting. I havent sent my HH yet to ZQ, but I plan to add the string so I wont have to wrestle with trying to grab the zipper. I have a zipper pull on the end of the string.

I slept in my modified HH with 1/2 zip and full zip for 4 nights at MAHHA hang. The zippers worked great. 2 nights I slept with the bug net tied out of way. Last two nights I used with bugnet up and used zippers to get in and out.

I'm still very pleased and highly recommend it. Best thing I've done to my hammock.

It is arguably the greatest modification of a HH ever............. It works great and is more than worth the small fee to get it done right......... She does a job that is so professional it appears to be OEM.............I highly recommend for anyone that has been tried from the sole bottom entrance.

2Q reports our hammocks on their way back and should arrive tomorrow. I'm psyched!

Hammocks back today, test set-up was great. Really opens the hammock up for nice weather lounging and easy loading. Workmanship is first rate. IMHO this is a "must mod"!!
