Update to HH Zipper modification detailed information page.
ZQ is getting into her seasonal upswing in business...her fulltime sewing finishing business....and we want to make sure we keep everyone "hanging" while we continue to offer the zipper mods. Therefore I am adding a line to our information page as follows:
"If you have a date your hammock must be returned by, let us know before you ship it to us. We will review the jobs schedule and determine if we can accommodate your requested date. We’ll make our best efforts to do so."
The HH zipper mods have been successful and we wish to do our best to continue them in a reasonable turnaround time. Thanks for everyone's support and positive feedback.

I went AWOL from the forums for a while but need to chime in here and give a huge thumbs up to 2Q/ZQ for their services. I also had mod #2 done to my Explorer UL and have really enjoyed being able to stare up at the clouds and stars without the stock net in the way. Just yesterday I was hanging out at the river staring up at the top of the trees blowing in the wind thinking about how great it is to flip that bugnet over lickety split.
I'm really delicate with my gear because I want it to last as long as possible, so I still normally enter the hammock through the bottom slit, but if you're mindful about it, you can easily use the modded HH as a top loader with no problems, just go slowly so as not to stress the fabric or superb sewing work by ZQ.
If you are at all considering this mod, go for it, seriously. It absolutely redefines the hammock experience with regard to the Hennessy models. And these two are a pleasure to do business with, timely, and communicative.
Mine should be back to me soon...I'm like a kid waiting on Christmas!!!
I'm trying to decide between mod 1 or 2.
I want the zippers for:
- Easy access to gear
- Easily adjusting underquilt
- Ventilation in warm weather
- Better view out of the hammock
Not that important:
- Side entry
Does having the mod #2 make it much better as a chair?
Also anyone who has the mod# 1, does it get the netting out of the way enough to give you a nice view while lying down?
I assume the weight difference is minimal.
Thanks!
Attention to those interested in the Hennessy mods concerning shipping
We have completed HH mods from folks across the country and have enjoyed our small contribution to the hanging crowd. We have run into a problem however shipping to another country...in particular Canada.
We feel it is in the best interest of our customers to take precautions shipping the hammock for a trip across the country or around the block. We use USPS Priority boxes or Tyvek bags...unless the customer requests something different.
We always utilize a tracking feature and watch to see it gets to its intended location.
If a package is sent to us with "insurance", the same amount of "insurance" is applied to return it. If the hammock is sent without insurance, it will be returned uninsured and we will not be held responsible for USPS mishandling or losing your package.
The issue that recently occured was returning a hammock to Canada where Canadian customs tacked on an additional amount based on the amount of insurance that covered the package. With a little explanation from Jack from JRB, I see that this might be an ongoing problem with our Canadian friends. ZQ and I would love to take orders from around the world if it were to happen (who knows where Hennessy's have been sold) but customers need to be aware of their country's customs costs before they decide to have the mod done by us. I was surprised on the "duty" charged, and so was my customer. So be forewarned, even in this global economy, where things are shipped all over the world, there may be some unforeseen costs that might surprise/upset you.
