Welcome aboard! I spent some time up there as an MP(96-97) before I came down on orders for GE. lots of great hiking and camping. As I remember there was a decent Little bass pond right on post too. Somewhere in the back forty. Can't remember how to get there though. Enjoy Seattle

Thanks Dand76, BHinson and Lattie11581! Appreciate the warm welcome. I do love the fact that Fort Lewis has lots of trees. I'm thinking of taking the hammock out to south east area for the first hang. Should be nice. @ Lattie: I like your saying, my SFC always like to say, "Don't do dumb sh*t!" lol

I was at Ft. Lewis until this last Sept doing contract IT support for the 160th. Wish you had shown up sooner.

I'm in Honduras now. We had at least 1 get together in Bremmerton at the State Park there, really nice place. Good luck getting together with the folks there, they are really nice.

Welcome aboard!!

I loved Ft. Lewis during the six-week stint I had there (back in '87.) Mt. Rainier provides a terrific backdrop for training exercises, and the landscape makes for fantastic nap-of-the-earth helicopter rides!

If you're not too far down your UQ path, check out the archives here for Poncho Liner Underquilt (PLUQ). There are a few variations, and the PL seems to gain people a few more degrees than fleece......
