I'm from NY but I'm currently spending the winter and part of the summer in Southern CA. It might be fun to have a get together sometime.

I now located in Ashland Oregon which is about 2 hours north of the California border and 12 miles off the Pacific Crest Trail. If you get lost on the California freeway and find yourself this far north, send me a message

If you ask northern Californians, Fresno is in southern CA... if you ask southern Calis, Fresno's northern. So I guess my geographical location is kind of arbitrary, but I'm close enough to count.
I wish I lived back in So Cal. Does that count?
I really the Seirra Nevadas.
This brings a whole new meaning to the question
"How's it hangin?"
You're right Lori....Fresno is just about smack dab in the middle of the state. My daughter works for VISTA and lives in Berkeley so I will ocassionally be heading that way. Perhaps we can make that work.
Free the Weasel....I plan on doing some whitewater kayaking up in northern Cali this spring and summer. I also want to visit an old friend who lives in Corvalis. I'll give you a shout when I get up there to see if you're still interested.

I joined a hiking group via meetup.com - the Fresno Madera Hiking Meetup. It's pretty active, and likely to be doing some overnighters and longer trips later on. You might check their calendar at meetup and see if there are hikes scheduled for around when you expect to be coming through. Great group, really nice folks. And there's a lot of members who are also part of the local kayaking meetup.
Also, bet there's meetups in your area. It's a helpful way to group people with similar interests.
