My daughter and I planned on a weekend overnight at Angeles National Forest in Southern CA. We left Friday mid-morning and arrived at camp around 11AM. Coldbrook campground is a nice area far enough from the city but I guess not far enough. When we got to the campsite, first thing we noticed was the trash. Beer bottles, cans, wrappers, even diapers thrown between bushes and some close to the creek close to where we camped. After an hour or so of cleaning the area, we settled in. Setting up the hammock and our tent for the evening (I know...I'm still transitioning from a tent to a hammock).
We had wonderful weather, free of bugs, a nice fire, and just a wonderful evening. The following day, we decided to go 10 miles down to West Fork San Gabriel River and do a little waterfall hunting...found one and it was nice ending to a beautiful weekend. Now for the pictures...I hope you guys enjoy the scenery as much as we did.
On our way up Azusa Cyn...
Quick stop to view the San Gabriel Dam
Our home for the evening.
On our campsite...littered with crap.
After a little cleaning...which isn't to hard really. My daughter even enjoyed picking up the trash as she knew it was a good thing we were doing...
Now we can relax...my DIY hammock.
A nice creek just below our campsite
A view from the hammock
Not sure if this was a happy tree or a sad one...maybe didn't like me hangin'
She loves water...
My DIY lantern
Hot cocoa after dinner by fire.
I think she had too much fun...don't mind the ground dwelling
