    Cats and Hammocks

So my roommates and I just got a cat. Seems like a terrible combination but I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully paired the two. No, he's not declawed, he's a better mousetrap.

I have found that my cat wants nothing to do with my hammock. However that might just be my cat. She doesn't seam to like the unstable footing.

I have one in the hammock with me from time to time. She jumps in and snuggles up. Tuesday last week there was a thunderstorm so my Yorkie was sleeping with me so I had a dog on one side and a cat on the other. Normally they just jump in,stay for a bit and leave but that was an example of her sleeping for a couple hours.

But I put my hammock up everyday. Just a little claw action will leave me on the ground quick.

Anyone who has visited my profile knows that three cats rule my life. All three have been in a hammock with me at one time or another. Ones spends a lot of time with me in my day-hammock set up in the woods somewhere on our long walks. She will only walk on ME in the hammock--she won't touch the hammock fabric if she can help it. (which is fine by me! ) She sleeps on my stomach or on my upper legs. She seems to enjoy the swaying motion and being in a nice clean spot instead of on the ground (don't we all?! )

One of my cats likes sleeping with me in my hammock, one does not. Neither of them have been declawed. +1 on putting the hammock away when not in use. The other thing that I have found is that it is wise to bundle any straps or whoopies that are dangling. "Look, the monkeys made us the best cat toy EVER!"
