OK it looks like we have completed the planning phase for the 2012 Colorado Summer Hang so I am going to start a new thread with agenda and attendance list.
There is so much info spread all thru these 15 pages of posts it's become pretty hard to find stuff like dates, maps, etc. As soon as I get the post up I will edit this post with a link.
thanks

Discussion: Packing for July in Colorado at 10,000 ft above sealevel.
Typical temps for Colorado in July can be all over the place.
Day time temps will range from 60F to 80F I typically plan for 70 degree day time highs.
I really like the REI nylon hiking pants with zip off legs.
That way I have shorts and long pants with minimal weight.
On those hot sunny days when hiking I really like to hike in a thick 100% cotton Tee shirt.
It does a great job of cooling you down when damp from sweat or you can wet it in a stream and have a convection cooler for about a hour as it slowly dries.
However it's not the only shirt I take since it could be cold or rainy.
In those cases I really like the REI type long sleeve nylon camping shirt with roll up sleeves.
I will also carry a light micro fleece 1/4 zip and a gortex windbreaker/rain jacket. This will also cover cool nights.
Evening temps @ 10,000ft are typically in the low 40s.
If it's wet and a little windy 40 can feel quite cold. I will usually pack thin Cabelas silk long john bottoms.
Other warm items I carry is smart wool glove liners and a smartwool stocking cap.
These items are pretty small and light weight and can really increase your comfort should the weather turn cooler than expected.
Afternoon RAIN. Yep it's pretty typical at altitude to get an afternoon rain so I usually pack rain chaps and my windbreaker is Gortex.
A water proof pack cover or dry bags are highly recommended for your down quilts as well as other clothing you don't want to get wet.
This can be as simple as using trash bags.
So anyway, that is what I pack and why. Hopefully it has got you thinking about your pack list.
I'd love to hear what you plan to pack.
Base weight 14# no food or liquids

I plan to be there. I don't know if my knee will let me hike but I plan to get in some fishing. Do they allow dogs? Can you put a canoe in the lake?
Hi DR,
That's great news.
Kelly Dahl allows dogs on leash.
Left Hand Res allows dogs on leash.
They have recently introduced a small group of moose in the area.
I don't know if that is a concern for you but though I'd mention it.
Any and all types of un motorized crafts are allowed on Left Hand Res.
I'll be bringing a 12' kayak to fish with once we move over to Left Hand Res on Sunday.
I'm sadly going to be missing y'all by about a week. I'm flying into Denver and driving to western Nebraska for a family reunion but I'm headed back on July 1st. Thankfully it looks like I may to be able to sneak a 3-4 day excursion in on the front-end of my trip in Colorado Basin if I ride up with friends and then fly back out of Denver afterwards
