    greenbrier river trail?

Looking at some options to do with my son next week while his sister is off in band camp. One option is to bike a rail trail and camp. So I'm looking at the greenbrier river trail and wondering if any hammockers haver been on that one. Im wondering if one direction is better than the other, like, some rail trails go mostly downhill in one direction? And the campgrounds...hammock friendly with trees? Anyone ever do this? My other bike option is the New River trail...anyone have experience hanging hammocks at those campgrounds?

My wife and I just hiked and camped the Greenbrier River Trail this past weekend. It is a very nice biking trail. We started at the Caldwell end, right outside of White Sulphur Springs. We didn't hike very far and we left the trail and crossed the river to camp. We only passed one campsite and it was not hammock friendly. There was a picnic table, a large square area built up for a tent and a toilet. No water. If there was a grade on the trail, it was so slight as to be unnoticeable. We met lots of bikers, and a few hikers.
If I can give you any more info, PM me.

Medicine Man biked the trail this Spring. I checked out a couple of campsites, and there are trees. I can show you a nice campsite and a great swimming hole on Anthony Creek, near where it flows into the Greenbrier. PM me for more info.
The grade on the trail is very easy. It may be easier heading south, but not much.

Crash also did the trail on his bike. Last year I think. You may be able to find a trip report if you do a search for his message threads.
