Webbing Failure

In contrast here is the wear on the polyester strap I use.



Here is where the worn part sits in the clip. Even though its in the Dutch clip in the picture I just feed it though the loop as often as I use the clip. The loop would rub on the strap in the same relative area.

The black one is polypro. The orange is polyester. I pretty certain of it.

You're using the DC wrong...you want almost no angle on the webbing where it passes through the DC.

Pay particular attention to the table that addresses choke angles, and the requirement to reduce the rating of the slings @ choke angles less than 120 degrees.

That acute angle you're using puts almost the entire load on the small patch of webbing in contact with the DC.

Is there a line that ties to that area? Like the line is so tight it is cutting the webbing? Never mind...slow net.

No, the worn area is where the webbing bends in the clip or is bound in the loop.

There. Right there. You don't want the webbing bending around anything small, like a DC, 'biner, or a webbing loop. We have found, I believe, the cause of your failure.

The webbing needs to be as straight as possible where it passes through the clip.
