End Weather Shields and Black Bishop Bag Combo

So I was looking at Black Bishop bags and the standard tarp on my Hennessy Expedition and I was thinking about the end panels on the Clark hammocks that provide some weather shielding. And the little light bulb came on and I thought, "How about making a conical weather shield that will slip over the suspension and ends of a hammock and have a drawstring in it so it could be used as a Black Bishop bag?" And then I thought, "If you had one on each end, they could be held in place with a grosgrain loop and a bit of cord run parallel with the ridge line." I'm thinking 1.1oz silnylon; you could get all kinds of crazy, but something about 18"-24" deep would help make up for a small tarp in a hurry. Only one would be really useful for storage, but how could you avoid having two

It's getting late and that is all the brain cells I have to share with you for now.

if i may interject: if youre going to do all that and have 2, why not trim them in omni tape and make a sort of snake skin?

Possible! Or just stuff one end into the other and draw it shut.

Ive heard of blast panels, grizz beaks, hammock socks. but this is pretty cool. im listening
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

Slowhike had a nice set of silnylon end covers a while back. I don't know what happened to the pictures of them though. They even had a built in shelf!

Yeah, I still use them when I camp. They protect from blowing rain & give me a place to store all my gear.
I call them "Storage End Covers"

I have thought & worked on ideas to improve them because as they are now, they can become a tangled mess if care is not taken in set up & take down (I leave them on the hammock).
But I really do like what they provide.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Oh, & as far as the "Black Bishop Bag Combo" part, I do use the smaller of the two "Storage End Covers" as a stuff sack to store it in the pack.

OooHH! How about the Bishop bag end cover on one end and a rain wrap/kilt end cover on the other. Dual purpose stuff is the ticket.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.
