Thanks for posting, great report. I'm more inspired to visit Newfoundland now.

I work in Alberta and have run across a lot of Newfies and have always been curious of their home. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me even more.

An extremely challenging trek (especially carrying 8 days of food) but well worth it.

That reads like an amazing place. No formal trails just navigate to where you want to go based upon what you want to see. Truly an advanced hiking experience. I am glade you enjoyed it. Maybe I will be able to hike there some day.

Did you have any trouble finding trees big enough to hang from at Gros Morne. I am thinking of doing the long range traverse in July and until I saw this thread I was planning on bringing my tent.

Exactly what I was thinking reading this. Doesn't look like "hanging" country.

During the long range it was doable (north rim not so much). The ground is lower elevation around most lakes and streams and it isn't hard to find trees near most sites.

I tented most of the way though. I actually carried both options but after doing the north rim I was usually too tired to look for trees.

It's definitely a trip worth doing jut be prepared to be wet.

P.s. the north rim is (IMO) the more fun and remote part but it is tough unless you want to spend a couple extra nights and set up you own LNT camp sites.
