I made mesh snake skins that are looser than the one's you normally find. So when my tarp is in the skins they aren't tightly contained. This allows me the ability to fit easier into my pack ... outside if it's wet or just inside one of the side pouches ready for easy deployment in event of a rain. Works for me

I'm using Mountaingoats mesh skins with mine. No problems that I can see.

I use three velcro cable ties...like this...

Simple, easy to put on, available at hardware store, cheap.

Simply brilliant. A nomination for the KISS method of the year.

I made a "python" out of no-see-um, and it works great and is very light. A python is just one big long snake skin the length of the tarp. I did that because it was a lot easier to sew (you just sew a rectangle into a roll and put ties on both ends). It also prevents all of the bunching up I get in the middle with two separate snake skins. I would say, though, with the tarp rolled or scrunched inside, it might dry some, but I wouldn't count on any tarp really drying out unless it was unfurled. . .

I made my own mesh set of skins from some ultra light, large hole (3/16" dia.) mesh. Super easy to set up/transport. My thoughts are that it can be coiled on the outside of my pack and will dry quicker if wet. Still waiting for a practical situation to test them in. Seems good in theory.

I was using netting snakeskins that I made, but with my renewed efforts to lighten up, I'm using the guy lines that are already on the tarp like Wags. Then, I simply stuff it in the outside pocket of my back pack - no sack, no snakeskins, no ties to loose (which I would).

But, if I ever car camp, I would pull out my snakeskins cuz they look cool!
