Looks like MAHHA is going to be my fall trip for the year. If things change I'll try and get to Uwharrie still, but for now looking like a no go for me.

Going to the gorge in Oct. but I'm pretty sure I'll miss the big hang (again).

I'd be up for Uwharrie. I'd like to see the Birkshead area. I've done the southern Dutchman's Creek/Uwharrie trail figure 8 loop forwards and backwards. Not a bad area but not a whole heck of a lot to look at either. The 18-20 miles is a bit too long IMO for an overnighter unless you make it out there early or want to get back late. Its also too short of a two nighter. Like I said I've done it both directions but by the end it feels more like a forced march than anything else personally.

I think the group that was in the Birkshead section did less miles and more goofing off/socializing.

Man I can't wait for it to cool off.

The Gorge Rats have a gathering twice a year ... usually May and October. Discussions for Oct are already in the works but that's only discussed on www.linvillegorge.net ... cause we get a bit distracted and goof around alot

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

I'm hoping to make it to the spring Gorge hang. You fellers just seem to have a blast out there.

That sounds like a great idea.
Life looks better from a BIAS hammock.
