    Jo Annes having a sale

Just a heads up..I was doing some research looking for rip stop and Jo Annes is having a 40% off sale. Makes it less than 5 bucks a yard. Wife is headed off to Sherman to get me some. I would go but it figures that I am on call this weekend.

The actual unhemmed fabric length on my DIY's is either 10 ft or 9 ft. 9 foot makes a short hammock, that most people would not enjoy.
An emergency of my own making...is still an emergency.

I am 5' 10", so I guess I would need a 10 foot hammock. Never have sewn before, would that mean i need 4 yards ?

!0 feet would be fine, If you get 4 yds you will have a little extra to play with. You can do a quick test hammock (no sewing) with the 4 yards. Gather the ends and then tie a knot with the fabric- on at each end. Larks head or otherwise tie your whoopies or webbing or what every you use for a suspension below the knot (the hammock side of the knot as opposed to the tree side) and presto- you have a hammock. Not pretty, but it works. The longer the hammock the better the lay for most folks.

I am 5'8. I like to feel confined, so mine come out at 9 foot, and end up with a 7'6" opening after the ends are sewn and gathered. But the 10 footers lay more diagonal.
