We just got back from our trip to Oregon and was able to get in an overnight on Eagle Creek to Tunnel Falls. I've been buying a lot of new gear so the was a first time for much of it. Everything performed perfectly. I bought two new ULA packs, a CDT for my wife and a Circuit for me. I LOVE these packs! My daughter used a Granite Gear Wisp that was a great size for her.
We hit the trail at 8:00am, the weather was perfect!
I've never hiked anywhere with scenery like nice.
This is upper Punchbowl falls. We hiked down and my daughter thought she was going to swim until she stuck her big toe in.That was some COLD water!
The Potholes section reminded me of walking on Woks. We could have had some trail stir fry.
One of my favorite things about Tunnel Falls is that you don't know it's coming. There is a stream on your right and the sound from it covers the falls until you make a 90 degree on the trail and WHAM!
We backtracked to stay at WyEast camp. We had scoped it out on the way up and found a nice area up the hill that had perfect trees for three hammocks to be close together.
My wife was in the TX-150 with a 3/4 Summer Phoenix UQ and a fleece TQ, and was covered by a Speer WT.
My daughter slept in my Clark NX-250 with a Nanatuk TQ that Headcase was kind enough to loan us and under another Speer WT.
I slept in my Speer hammock with my Hammock Gear Summer Incubator UQ and my custom (wider) Summer Burrow TQ. I hung under my custom OES tarp (Ultra length/standard width).
There were banana slugs everywhere. Very cool until you step on them.
Deer came into the camp at night. Poor picture but you get the idea. You can see my bear bag line reflecting in the background. The crazy thing was that about 6:00am I woke to a crazy sound. Two deer rand though camp at full speed less than 2 feet from my tarp lines. Scared the crap out of me.
Hiked out the next day mid morning.
We went straight to VooDoo Doughnuts and loaded up.
