    Prusik Knot

Someone has certainly tried this but thought I would post anyway. I took some cheap wannabe paracord and stripped the inner cords out. So then left with the loose outer shell you just tie the prusik knot. It seemed to bite very well.

Have used it quite a bit, does a good job! BTW, lovin the avatar, what type Basset is it?
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

She is now a 6 year old Lemon. Her father was Sir Cannonball. She is a sweet sweet dog. So re-read my original post and can see that the lack of sleep has me loopy. My thought was around using the paracord without the inner strands. The Prusik then seemed to bite more. Used this for a tarp on a CRL and really liked it. I read a bunch about people having issues with the prusik slipping but this seemed to hold well.

Good idea. Very similar to a selvagee, which is a rope with the core removed. The sheath only selvagee is very grippy when wrapped around other lines and is used by sailors to clear overrides on winches.
