Last Weekend Lake McClure and Coulterville

We had a nice 4 day trip to Lake Mc Clure and some swimming holes above Coulterville, near Yosemite. This is very different from my usual backpacking trips, but I had the girls along, and we went in relative luxury. Two burner Coleman stove, coolers, rafts, towels and all the goodies I usually leave at home, including the newest Aussie puppy.
We camped at the lake then spent most of the days swimming in the less crowded, cooler waters at Diana Falls. These are swimming holes known to the locals and the hike in is about half a mile. The closest town in Greeley Hill, on the way to Yosemite. There is also a hidden cave sysyetm, Bower Cave, which during the mining days was turned into a dance hall. Now it's just hidden away on the side of a hill and no one would suspect of it.
We even had a full moon rising over the lake. The view was right from the campsite.
Our hammocks were great, best sleep in weeks : )

Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

    Pictures

Thanks. I have so many more pictures and was hoping to post some "big ones", but have not figured out how to do that yet. We did have a sweet relaxing time and saw some beautiful country too. NO BUGS to boot....no mosquitos, no flies and for once, NO Tarantulas! In past years there was a sort of tarantula migration going on, which made the girls less than comfortable.
All the support I have received here, has made it possible for me to take this nice mini vacation. Thanks!
