Bring some blaze orange to be safe.

Fronkey, I might be good to go Thursday. I can let you know this week sometime. It could be cool to do a quiet night somewhere that looks good for moose sightings.
Deer season (for guns) doesn't start until November 5, 2011. No blaze orange needed (unless you just want it).

    Sounds good!

That's what I am going for. Just hike in to a cool site, spend the night and hike out in the morning to make it to the parking lot at noon.

There are quite a few good campsites less than 3 miles from a parking lot to hike in and out.

Bluejeans and I will be hitting the trail on Thursday. It would be nice to meet up and hike together that day. PM me with contact info and we'll talk about where and when to meet up. I'll be picking him up at Duluth International Airport in the early afternoon and then going straight to the trail from there.

There is for sure 3 of us going on Thursday so far and maybe a 4th as well. So, you and Bluejeans would make 6.

There are a couple options we could do.

    1. We could still park near the two island parking lot and hike north to Fredenberg Creek and the walk back to the cars to meet everyone at noon.

    or

    2. We could stop at a different site on the way up and hike in and out, then drive up to the parking lot.

I personally like the 2nd option as there is a few sites I wouldn't mind hanging at on the way up.

    What do you guys think?

Thanks Fronkey. After considering your suggestions about a different parking spot, I think you can count me "in" for Fri and Sat.

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and my first trip on the SHT. I have heard and seen plenty of videos and excited to see the fall colors as well.
