Brandon, measurements are from Samson. 1 fid equals 21 times rope diameter or 7 times rope circumference.

2 fids on a locked brummel fixed eye which would be 42 times 1 divided by 8.

3 fids on a plain stiched fixed eye which would be 63 times 1 divided by 8.

3.5 fids on the adjustable eye which would be 73.5 times 1 divided by 8.

    1/8 in amsteel.

I just did my first one and measured and marked the line at 12 in before the bury. Measured after and it was a shade under 9 1/2 in after the bury.

BTW, I am using 1 strand of standard 2 wire inside phone line to fish the tapered ends. The only problem is opening up the braid to start the taper. Phillips screwdriver did it but I think I will figure out a fid. ;-)
