    So here's an interesting dilemma....

I've been testing my hammock out in the old backyard as I haven't had a chance to hit the trail yet. And I've finally found that sweet spot and as a normal stomach sleeper, I've been adjusting to being on my back or side in the hammock. But the problem I have is that I fall asleep for naps easier and quickly, but.....I keep waking myself up because I hear my snoring!
I'm not much a snorer in the bed, and I am a fairly light sleeper, but come on. I don't know what to do about it. I'd hate to think that I'd have to give up this sweet DIY HH clone and tarp I've slaved over and haven't even got to take on the trail just to get some proper rest. Does this happen to anyone else? Or have I finally proven my wife right and I am this weird?

Don't know about the snoring, but are you used to sleep in a hammock? it can take some "practice" to get use to, especially if it's not something you do on a regular basis(sleep in your hammock) kind a like if you are sleeping somewhere new(you know - different sounds, smells etc).

Else you just have to hike further and longer... that will knock you out

Maybe you are sleeping harder in the hammock.

Try a neck pillow. The hammock may be causing your head to bend forward more than normal.

+1 The neck pillow will allow your head to fall back and open the airway.

Hiking further/harder will more than likely put an end to it.

And I know I'm sleeping harder because within 10 minutes of laying in the hammock I usually start to feel myself doze off. Which is why I'm so stoked to get this out on the trail. I never sleep good on my trips. I even have a 3.5 inch 4lbs sleeping pad I was hauling with me trying to improve my sleep, but I have hopes for the hammock. I'm actually a little upset I didn't find out about all this sooner, but better late than never.

A pillow. That may help. I hadn't thought about that.

    Thanks guys!

    1. I hate sleeping in my backyard. Cars, dogs, neighbors, dreams of shug..
    2. I like a little sumthin-sumthin under my neck, usually a rolled up fleece shirt or a small stuff sack filled with some clothing.
    3. Snoring is normal..at least at all the group hangs I've been to. Right guys. (you know who you are)
    4. Give it some time.

Not just any pillow, a neck pillow. I'm stressing this because I tried a standard pillow in my hammock and got a sore neck after a night.

I laughed when I read this post. The same thing happens to me and I am afraid the neighbors can hear me. It's embarasing, but who cares cause the sleep is sooo good.

In the woods I sleep on my side and it isn't a problem.
