    Thanks all. Now that yo mention it, I think I have a level app in my iPod.

    I understand that 30* is just guidelines but I didn't want to start at 40* and not realize it.

    Thanks, everyone. This is a particularly helpful thread. I had cut an old credit card on a 30* angle and had used that, but this is just so much easier. I checked using a protractor and my "gun" is just about exactly 30*.

    [Now I guess I'll be reading jokes about my "gun" ]
