You could try the tree-huggers from Jacks-R-Better. I can't recommend JRB highly enough. Great products, fast order processing.
As far as falling is concerned, haven't done that yet, but when I was a hammock newbie I found myself with my butt on the ground the first few nights -- I wasn't hanging properly, and the suspension was loosened. Fun times.
I personally use the straps Paul sells at Arrowhead Equipment ... strong, light weight ... and Paul's good people!
