I like the footbox on mine, and i had the impression that depending on how the bird is hung it does make a difference in the lay.

But design-wise afaik it is there to give you an unrestricted foot position with the symmetrical bugnet- so the lay should be just like a hammock without footbox and attached bugnet ie. traveller or a HH with asymetrical bugnet
except you do have a net that doesnt get in the way and doesnt touch your feet

Wilderness logics has an adjustable footbox and same thing at the head end. It's called the Night Owl- just sayin.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

    Not awesome. Sorry.

    Grand Canyon? Awesome.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison? Awesome.
Sunrise from Caddilac Mountain in Maine? Awesome.

My WBBB's footbox? Pretty darn cool. Sweet. Well designed. Useful. Inspired. But NOT awesome!

The footbox does four main things.
    1. Allows you to lie a bit further on the diagonal to get a flat lay that is difficult to match by other gathered-end hammocks.
    2. Allows you to also slide a bit further towards the foot end. For me, this frees up some head space and makes the reciprocal "head box" unnecessary, although that's a really interesting idea. YMMV, especially for taller people.
    3. Prevents the heels and calves from digging into the hammock fabric when properly adjusted.
    4. Provides a wall to prevents feet from slipping out of the hammock. I think the comments about the bug netting simply refer to the fact that Brandon didn't run the netting all the way down to the feet area, which would likely have been a less comfortable and weaker design. That is a bonus though and certainly not the main goal of the footbox.
"The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

I have 2 hammocks, an ENO double, and a WBBB. The comfort level between the 2 is not even close, the WBBB is far superior.

    In order of appreciation;

    1-The shelf.

2-The new skeeter net tie backs.

    3-The footbox.

Combined they become the hammock version of awesome...dude (verb/noun/? it's a Kalifornia thing).

P.S. I still like the Traveler best when conditions make it a good choice though.
