Water Monkey has been busy yesterday... Placed an order with Stormcrow for a custom winter tarp identical to Ironman's.... and contacted Pappa Smurf for a bug net for my traveler... When will the gear madness end!!!

Congrats on your new purchase Raul. Can't wait for the video.

This winter should be very interesting with so many cuben tarps out there. How they hold up in sub zero weather with a snow load should be interesting.

I'm still loving the 1.7 single traveler you sold me. When used with nothing else it's one of the most comfortable hammocks I have. However when I add an UQ it becomes a unruly beast. Nothing (stuff sacks, TQ, gloves, sleeping hat, etc) wants to stay in the hammock. If one adds a ridgeline organizer or peakbag you kind of defeat the weight savings over a wbbb shelf.

I would be very interested in how you deal with this on the trail.

Thanks again for all your video's they have really helped me out in lightening my packload.

Yeah I'd be interested in seeing how it works out as well. 2 week wait on that bug net but I'll be busy with work anyway to do any real testing.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Lately I've been getting some flack on how I present myself (be it my semi-foul mouth or personal views). It's posts like this that shows I'm actually helping people that make it worth it.

    Videos will be made.

You know, I was thinking about the length. The longer the tarp the lower the hammock has to hang. Seeing how long my regular cuben tarp is and the amount of coverage there is on the ends, I would consider making it shorter and it would be a tiny bit lighter . Just a thought (?)

So far, no problems with ridge line abrasion with CT0.6K.08, but I agree that the .08 laminate is mighty thin. The aluminized stuff I got is CT1K.18. I also got black CT1K.18, and the weight penalty isn't bad for these two: about .8 oz and .7 oz per square yard, respectively.

Where did you buy your fabric rolls at ?

Cubic Tech, the manufacturer, sells in 9 meter increments. Look at their CTF3 Product Information. Then call to see what else they have available. In the product chart, if you multiply "grams per square meter" by .03 you get approximate ounces per square yard.

The only way I would consider changing would be for a Cuben that has nearly the same dims as my Superfly.

That and the resale value of my Superfly, which will help offset the price. The increased cost for the additional width would not be quite as much of a deterrent in an upgrade situation.

Our "cottage industry vendors" are understandibly reluctant to make this jump without some indication of the size of the market.

I wonder how many others are "on the fence" about a Cuben upgrade for the same reasons? Maybe I am the only one but I don't think so.
I find myself going to HG's website almost daily and drooling over the 11' x 8.5' cuban, but the one thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger is the width. I want it to be at least as wide as my BMJ.

Raul, MOWOGO, I'm with you - got to be wider. Seeing this thread will definitely make we wait for Adam's newest.
