7D Top Quilt

Been meaning to make a summer top quilt for a while now, have a hike coming up on two weeks so finally took the plunge. 5 yards of TiGoat's 7d fabric and 7 oz of 900fp later I have a new summer quilt for my hammock or bivy. Looking to only get to around 40 degrees since sewn thru stitching.

Final weight after getting some new hardware is 11.3 ounces. Sewn thru Karo style with 12/6 boxes. Hope the pics work - I am attachment challenged sometimes.

That's sweet! I like how you used sewn thru baffles. Sometimes I wonder if box-walled construction is really necessary for summer weight items.

Ha...It wasn't really that fun to sew, but I'm not a huge fan of sewing anyway. All the short seams took a while to finish, cut, and reset the foot on the next one.

The pics are a little deceiving on the loft. It really only has about 1.75" of loft which should work good for the temps I intend to use it in. The filling was pretty easy. I sewed all of the sides except the top and all the boxes except the middle two and then just dumped all the down in at once. I then moved all the down into the bottom 1/2 of the quilt and sewed the remaining two boxes and top seam. A lot more simple than using the vacuum and no-see-um method.

Looks really good. One of the next things I need to make for myself. How much did you spend on materials (fabric and down) if you don't mind me asking

Sure. Five yards of SevenD at $22/yd and 7 oz of down from Thru Hiker at $10/oz. So $180 plus shipping and hardware. Including everything you're looking at $200.
