Yep, we'll all get back together once this burning ball of hydrogen/helium stops baking us to death!

I'm counting down the days until the first cold front. As a matter of fact I got out my back pack earlier today and emptied it all out on the floor just so I could repack the gear. I have not seen most of the gear since my last outing in late April.

    Yardwork sucks!!

Well, since it's way too hot to do any hiking/camping I'm reduced to working out in my yard. I about had a heat stroke last weekend and I'm not even close to finishing my various projects. It really needs to cool off so I have an excuse to neglect the yard and head for the woods.

Some of my friends are headed north (AT or Foothills trail) in September to get our fill of early season hiking. I'm hoping it starts to cool off further north by then.

I was getting cabin fever so I decided to take a stroll Saturday at the Hall Scott Preserve. I started the hike at 5:30pm and returned to my car at 8:30pm, walked a total of around 9 miles. I was showered in my own sweat. But I am glade I went for it. I just can't wait until the heat leaves.

There was one lone "mountian" biker that I encountered, I thought he was crazy for being out there, but then again he was probably thinking the same about me.

I am looking forward to any hangs anyone wants to participate in, once the dry season is here.

    Thumbs up let's do it!!!

If y'all are up for it, Gumbo and I could do the Santa Fe the weekend of August 19-21. We found a beautiful site that we want to go back to and try out. Obviously that's pretty soon so we'll need to get crackin' if we're going to make it happen. No worries though... I'll get Gumbo to organize it - she knows a few of the outfitters on the river. But we'll need some level of commitment pretty quick. So speak up y'all!
If you'd like to go but don't have a yak or a canoe, post it - I'm sure we can come up with something for you. Plus there's plenty of rentals.
