    Done (maybe) with DIY hammock.

Ok. I think I am finally done with this one, and can start on the next. I overcast all the seams, redid the suspension connections with a Steel 2" ring inside the hammock, and a poly 1" strap doubled over and covered with a friction sheath. The red tag on one is to mark the head end.

It all goes in the side bag, I added compression straps. You can see in 1 photo, I added loops to the strap, and sewed them inside the seam of the bag. That way, the straps did not pull at the seam, it's a straight pull on the strap. Added a loop so I can hook the whole kit and caboodle on to a pack with a biner.

Total weight on a postal scale was 3.12 pounds, which seems pretty heavy, but I built it as stout as I could, and this one is for canoeing.

Its coated 200d cordura. I got a deal on a bunch at 2.50 a yard. lol. I know... coated and sweat and vapor and whatnot. I'll hang it right in the water if I gotta. I have some poly dig camo for 2 or three more hammocks.

Have you had any problems with waking up wet/damp so far due to the coated fabric??? I know some have used sil without any trouble??

It gets hot. There is sweat, even at night, on bare skin. Not so bad I would not use it, but I would not like high humidity and no breeze. We are supposed to get flooding rains of 4 inch per hour. Good night to test out the redone tarp tieouts.

Is that the same one you filled with water?

I find that a DIY hammock is never really complete until you decide it's time to start over from scratch.

    Hmmm... is that a hint?

I will have to stick with this one for a while yet.
