Wonderful! I would love to find a little island and do this.

Thanks everyone for your interest in my report. I have lived near this large lake system all my life and only started to using it this summer ,so many more reports to come. The hammock that I used was my WBBB clone, the "WARBIRD" which I made last year and has turned out to be an awesome hammock. I use a Leigh 40*Underquilt and a Golite 40* down top quilt for insulation and my MacCat standard is my tarp of choice. The blue barrel is something we usually use for whitewater but they come in handy anytime you need 100% dry. We have two of the and get them free from a local company when they are done with them, they have a snap on lid with rubber seal and a steel locking ring that holds the lid on water tight. We all had a blast and will be back many more times.
This is a report I did a few weeks ago on a kayak trip on the same lake systemhttp://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=36107

Always great to lay claim to your own island and have your family along as the invading forces. Bet it was a great weekend of family bonding!!

Great last pic! And a fantastic way to end a solo jaunt.

Myles, just so you know, this thread has gotten into my head in a very good way. I'm in the hunt for just such a spot. Thanks!

Your very welcome! I enjoy doing the trip report almost as much as the trip and if it inspires someone to get out and do something similar that makes it even better. Good luck finding Your spot and if you can't I will share mine
