Does anyone take 131 through Grand Rapids on their way through? I live just South of there.
Another suggestion is the Jordan River Valley trail up near Belaire. I've done this trail several times now and it’s my favorite, more so than the other trails you have mentioned.
It is a relatively short loop (~18mi) with only a moderate elevation climb despite the several scenic overlooks into the river valley. There is no backcountry camping allowed, all overnighters must stay at the Pinney Bridge campground located at the halfway point of the loop. There are two vault toilets and a water pump at the campground with a fire pit at each campsite. Several of the campsites have sufficient trees for hammocks. I wouldn’t worry about the campsites being filled, on a busy weekend that I went which also happened to have several Boy Scout troops; they were barely above half capacity.
