Okay, enough of this playing in the yard business. Time to get out in the woods!
I went for a day hike today. It is FINALLY starting to look like summer in Seattle. Highway 2 runs from Everett Washington across Steven's Pass to Wenatchee. It is a great old highway and has many trails and incredible views of rugged peaks. You can really see the Earth's crust thrown into the air.
I picked the Bridal Veil Falls trail, which is on the side of Mt. Index. It is good climb, taking you up about 800 feet in a couple miles, with a steep climb for the last half mile.
I threw my Gran Trunk Ultralight and some suspension goodies to make sure I had a nice place to rest when I got up there. I hung my hammock off the side of the trail right next to the waterfall--- far enough to be out of the spray. What a great way to take a break on a hike!
The views were incredible and after our wet Spring, the woods were GREEN.
