Rtram, me and lukesteg do night short night hikes and leave pretty early in the morning fairly frequently. Planning an AT hike I'm assuming you have a ground set up? You're more than welcome to come along. You could camp in your ground set up but test out ours, see how we set up, etc. If not I'm sure we'll have another hang soon.

    Sounds great, should be fine.

Doing the math: we have between 10 and 14 people, will the site be able to "support" all of us?

Within the "site" there are several spots - maybe 6-7? Each with at least a set or two of trees.

There is an additional "site" that is just past the signage that reads "no camping beyond this point". I'm sure if we truly run out of trees to hang on, keeping in the spirit of the law; we could respectfully hang back there and keep impact to a minimum.

Any idea how far from the camp site to Moonville? I think it could be a fun trek if its not that far.

1.26 miles straight line distance. It does sound pretty cool. I'm equally interested in the body of water that Doctari was mentioning though.

My dad said he use to go swimming back there by moonville tunnel when he was a kid.

Rip, I'm going through trail sub withdraw, haha, they just don't stay good in this heat.

Me and Luke couted 10 decent hang spots out of the 6 or 7 camp areas in that whole camp. It should accomedate 10 or less if no spots are taken by others but I'm certain there will be. I'm almost certain we'll have to "stealth" it. The stealth area we were speaking of already is worn and has a spot where fire has been burned and tents have laid. I'm sure our hammocks will not create more impact then has already been created. There are also other areas within the boundering of camp that could be hung from. They are less than ideal but plenty fine to hang from. We will be fine.

I don't see why the more adventitious of us can't attempt both of these. Wife, puppy, and I will be there about midday on staurday till later on sunday.
