I won't be able to make the 20 - 21st weekend , but I am heading down to Dolly Sods this weekend for an overnight at the Forks. Not to hijack, but does anyone want to tag along? Last time, Luke and I met up at I-70 and I-77 around 8:30, drove down, and we were at our campsite by 4:00.

Otherwise, if anyone wants to get together this weekend, I open to other suggestions.

I was wondering when you'd chime in stang. Bummer you can't make it. I wish I could make dolly sods. Its looking a little bleek for me to make it out there this year.

This hang is a tune-up for the Dolly Sods for me. Shake down my rig. I'll be staying in Red Creek and go across the street to band some birds. Just gotta get outside!

So roll call for next weekend Aug 19-22 -

Friday night - tendertoe, Moe-z, Diva B and son

Saturday night - tendertoe, Moe-z, Diva B and son, HamMike, exup - late

Sunday night - tendertoe, Moe-z, Diva B and son, HamMike, exup

    lukesteg
    wi1ecoyote
    Nicodumas

When are you guys heading up?

Any of the other folks that chimed in still interested?

Exup and I were discussing changing locations - Camp C is the nearest location to the trailhead - easy in, easy out.

Unless anyone has any reason why we shouldn't do Camp C, I vote to stay here the entire weekend and day hike for those who wish to.

Moe-z and I will be there Friday early evening and will leave Monday morning.

    not to butt in-

butt i always felt camp C couldn't accommodate many hangers, at least not like that of the capacity of D.

you all have fun though... zaleski is great. i miss it.

Exup accounted for late saturday - monday. I'm for camp c. I know it will accomedate us, we may be seperated a bit. Me and lukested noticed a good "stealth" hang that's not so stealthy where people were camping on the opposite side of the trail the looks ideal.

Luke and I are heading to zaleski for a night hike tomorrow and will figure everything we can out as far as site and where the water haul road leads for easy foot access from kings hollow rd.

yeah.. tendertoe and i about hung there once... but chose to obey the fallen post that said "no camping" - must be a reclamation area of sorts.

but there is a fire pit and way more hang opportunities in that grove.

Yeah, I wouldn't normally mention something that may destroy the forest, but since its already taken its foot print it could be a backup option in case.

Rip, if you start driving now you can make it easily by next friday, haha. I miss folky tunes. I've even considered bringing a full on 12" x 12" radio/cd player since I don't have an ipod haha.
