    Ohio overnight

Hey ohio hangers, I'd like to get a little overnight organized for mid to late august. Anyone interested? Its been to long and I'm missing my hanging buddys. What times may work for you guys? Where would you like to go? Sundays and mondays work well for me but I can swing a satyrday too sometimes but I'd like to see what times work with you guys before I go asking at work.

Sounds like an awesome idea to me. Would love to get back out (been a few weeks, and still need more fresh air).

I'm good Friday afternoon till Sunday afternoon (desk jockey), and would be willing to hit any of the forests around Ohio.

If you are interested, we have been slowly testing out the buckeye trail in Scioto State Forest. Its got some nice trail that we are slowly getting used to. Our over-all goal is to to do from Scioto to Old Man's Cave by years end (100+ miles) at one go.

    I'm off Apr 12 - 16, & I too haven't been to the "Piney woods" for a while.

Got to work sat of the following week, then off sat & sun (27th 28th).

Back when I could walk I would have suggested Zaleski. Now that I am not as mobile as you young bucks I would be up for manning a base camp for youse guys to day hike. I've already committed to Dolly Sods in September, but would dearly love to get hang time in with my local brethren in a non-scout outing (so I can smoke my pipe or cigars and say "****") lol

If we do Zaleski, you may be able to park on the forest road and walk the 100 feet or so to the camps?

Don't know how mobile you are nor if the above is possible. I have heard of folks parking on the forest roads for the night.

I'm in for any of the weekends in August.

wife said we are free on the weekend of the 12th. I know its cutting it close, but might be able to do something there. As for the location, we are open to where ever.

What were we thinking? Just an over nighter?

Zaleskis good, nice, farmiliar, multiple hiking options. The buckeye trail sounds cool too.

Wilecoyote, sounds like you'd fit in, haha. The area tendertoe is talking about is about 1/2 past the 2nd camp (camp D) its a short hike but all up hill. I don't know what shape you're in but if you're up for that I'd be more than happy to help carry your gear and take our time up. I have spoke with the forest ranger at zaleski and he said they're fine with you parking along the forest roads so long you're out of the way and leave a not in your car explaining your plan.

What about mohican? I hear the "back country" sites are along the trail with parking areas also fairly close. There are pictures of the sites on www.backpackohio.com
