I'll be doing the Georgia Loop trail at the end of this month. I plan on taking a week to do it. ? I have read that water resupply can be an issue and am carrying extra bladders. Anyone have any general advice for this trip at this time of year? Anyone done this route recently? Is a bear canister requisite?

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.
There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
Some friends and I just did from the approach trail to ****'s Creek Gap. As mentioned there was a tornado that dropped quite a few trees. While we were hiking we met a trail crew that was out cutting the blowdowns so I don't think you should have a problem.
As for the bears.....There was a particularly aggressive bear along the AT so they closed the trail and shelters to camping for about a 10 mile stretch centered on Blood Mountain. There was also a Sow and cubs sighted at Hogpen Gap.
If you're allergic like me you'll find the trail a bit tricky in spots. A very healthy crop of poison ivy covers both sides of the trail for long stretches.
Bear bagging or using the shelter cables is a must. My friend just made me a new pouch for my bagging setup. Most of the good limbs seem to be pretty high up so I was glad to have 60' of line (zing-it).

Be sure to educate any trashy campers you meet. The ridgerunner we met was kind of pissed about all the trash in the fire rings and elsewhere.
