When whipping or tying a hammock?

Someone wrote in a post that he did not pull material out to hold the sides up when he tied or whipped the ends of his hammocks. I thought that was a good idea so I made one today and left the fabric straight on the ends when I tied them. I like what I got. I can roll in and out easily and see all around me, especially with the tie outs.
My question is: how many of you pull the last four inches or so out of the tied ends, and if you don't, what are your reasons and observations?

Here are a few pictures of it. Tonight I will make a weather cover for the top of the hammock as well as a bug net to match. The hammock is THREE bottomed, all DWR and weighs 24 ounces. Why 3 bottomed? I have been experimenting with pads lately and I have an idea to stack pads in two pockets in such a way that the entire bottom of the hammock will end up insulated....I hope.

I don't think it will matter that much since you are tying out the sides HH style. If you were not tying out the sides you would have to be careful not to flip over when getting in the hammock since it would not have a "tub" created by pulling out the ends. Don't ask me how I know this.

Depends on the whipping method for me, but overall I like the loose floppy side. It allows the use of side tie outs like in Mule's pics.

Why not stack the pads for entire bottom coverage in one pocket, instead
of the extra weight to create two pockets?

I thought of that, but to get the pads to align easily I thought you might have to encase them in a sleeve of slippery DWR. I have made some pads like this, and when you put them in, say, a Claytor, because they are slippery, they sort of find their place and it reduces buckling. I tried taking two twenty inch wide by six feet long blue WM pads and join them in the middle to make one wide pad, but the trick was to only join the middle, say 24 inches and let the ends slip over each other. When this happened it made a really nice canoe shaped pad as the ends slid over each other and found their place withing the curve of the hammock as you laid down in it.
With two pockets, first of all, it makes the hammock strong enough using only DWR. Secondly, it will allow me to put two pads in the bottom pocket on each side with a space in between them, where the pad in the second upper pocket could be just a 24 inch pad. I am hoping the pads will stay in place enough to fill up the entire shape of the hammock as it is held apart with the HH-type side guy spreaders. It may not work. I just have to play around with it. In this way, we might be able to carry pads that are able to be rolled flat and when put in the pockets take on the Canoe shape of the hammock without having to be tied, glued or taped together. That would make them hard to pack. That's my folly. We will see. Mule

I make all my hammocks with the ends even when doing the whipping and have never even come close to having one tip over on me or anyone else who has used one. I don't add pullouts in an asym style like the HH but rather do them directly opposite each other at 53 inches from the head end.
I have noticed in my hammock usage that I don't use it as a view platform but rather as a place to go and very quickly fall asleep.

I've only made two hammocks so far (and at least two more that I need to make). I haven't gotten one set up the way I want it, so I'll have to re-whip it yet again.
So far I've pulled the ends out only about two inches, but I will be trying with them pulled even further, working my up to about 4 inches. I imagine that it will be a couple of tries before I get them where I want.
