    Clator JH without tarp.

Can anyone tell me what the Claytor Jungle Hammock weighs AND costs with out the tarp that comes with it? I'm seriously thinking about getting the JH, but I might rather use a different type of tarp.

I actually emailed Tom about this a few days ago and no response yet.

Thanks. Please let me know what he says.
It is a polyurethane tarp, is it not?

I just bought two of them for friends. $100 each, two pounds.
Predictions are risky, especially when it comes to the future.

When I bought a claytor last year I thought it was $130 without the tarp and $150 with it. It doesn't seem to be an option now.

I'm actually happy with the tarp in most conditions. It keeps me dry and protected from the wind and goes up quickley. it is either polyester or nylon.

If I were going out for more than a few days and expected a wider varity of weather I might consider a larger tarp with more versatility, but for my one to 3 night jaunts the stock claytor is more than adequate.

Tom's site states the small/standard fly is Nylon Tafta (210T).

Here's Tom's reply to my email:

    "Hi Anthony -
Without the fly, it is US$110.
    Thank you,
    TOM

Hi Tom. First-time hammock-buyer here. After reading all the praise for you and your hammocks I decided to give your Jungle Hammock a shot. I was wondering if it's possible to buy the Jungle Hammock without the rain fly? If so, what'd be the cost? Thank you, sir.

I'll be getting just the Jungle Hammock and pro'lly go with the Speer Winter Tarp. I like the idea of a tent-like structure, as shown in one of the pics on Speers' page. Ooorah!
