    very true

One is manmade as most pesticides are being changed when possible because of influences by the epa and other outside sources and environmentalist. By being manmade they can control the length of effectiveness of the product. Unfortunately this has meant that most pesticides and termiticides are not nearly as effective as just a few years ago. Of course their excuse is because of over-use and abuse they have eliminated or reduced the effectiveness.

If it's Permethrin, you want a concentration of .5% (that's one-half of one percent). Just do the math on whatever concentration you buy, to dilute it to .5%.

    Thanks Rain Man,
From what I can find the concentration of permethrin is 10%.

Not very good with maths, but I'll try to work it out.

1 part 10% permethrin mix and 19 parts water. That should get you to the right concentration.

    for example: 100 mL permethrin + 1.9 L water = 0.5% solution

Try to dry them in the shade with a breeze or fan. It's no surprise but gravity works on the solution when you hang it up so most of the solution is going to be at

the bottom of the material when it dries. You can either rotate the items 180° half way through the drying process or just not worry about it. In my experience

the difference in the distribution of the permethrin is minimal but I still choose to rotate to aid in even distribution.

Use 1 part of your 10% concentration permethrin source and 20 parts of water.
10% divided by 20 gives you 0.5% permethrin.

    Edit:
Oh oops, I should have done a page refresh before posting.
And LostCause is correct, to do it exactly right my example should have been 1 part permethrin and 19 parts water to total 20 parts. Otherwise you end up with a 0.476% solution!

I've been told, the permethrin I purchased is not safe to use on clothing because of high flammable product mixed with it. Such as the hydrocarbon liquid, it's in a very high concentration mixed into the bottle I purchased.

Wouldn't the risks of fire be reduced or eliminated, once it's dried onto the clothing?

I have a 10% permethrin concentrate (thanks for the link Rain Man). If I wanted to mix up a gallon for my sprayer, I would use about 6.5oz of the permethrin? Does this sound about right? Or atleast close enough?
