Man, I scored with the wife tonight!!!

What I meant to say was that my wife and I scored a free hammock stand tonight. Dirty trick with the title to get you to read this I know, but I really do need some advice from the pros on here. This stand measures 16 feet post to poststand.jpg
However its only about chest high or maybe even a little lower. Will I have problems hanging my Blackbird from this due to the low attachment points, like sagging into the ground or running the ridgeline to tight? Or does anyone know of any long term problems I might run into using this stand?

Well a score is a score, right?

Anyway, I have a different but similar stand of about the same dimensions. I hang in a Blackbird on it all the time with no issues. And as soon as the temps here drop below the lows of 80+ degrees, I'll be back in it.

Right on, thanks for the quick reply. I should be hanging in it tomorrow night for the FIRST overnight in the BB. Just didn't want to get to excited then find out it wouldn't work

might want to park some cushioning over the base pole, just while you are testing the set-up; never hurts to prepare for the worst...

well today started off looking like rain so I thought I might get a good chance to hang the new tarp and check it out, but instead I decided to take the hammock stand into the garage and test it out. I got the BB to hang but the suspension and ridge line had to be tightened straight across and I still hit the pole/floor just putting my hand in. Kinda bummed.

Well perhaps a tie down on both ends to be staked out in the lawn? Maybe a trip to the muffler shop (or the base machine shop) to cobble together a set of longer uprights (careful with the balance)? With my Vario stand there was much experimentation to get it all sorted. The uprights pull in and so the set up must be tight to adjust for that. Some fiddle factor and yer in baby (pun intended)!

    Well well well

This was not at all what I thought it was about when I read the lead in......

May you get "lucky" more often and add to your hammock cache......
