    100' of Amsteel

Well I finally broke down and orderd some 7/64 Amsteel. Ended up getting 100' to make whoopie slings and nacrabiners. This sounds like a lot of line but my 2 sons want me to make slings for them too. Of course mine will come first.

I ended up ordering the Amsteel from my local West Marine store. Their price was higher than others out there but they matched the Redden Marine price and the shipping is free to the store. I just have to pick it up when it comes in. All total it cost me $0.21/ft + tax. I figure that is a pretty good deal. It should be in next week so you know what I'll be doing next weekend.

Careful! It becomes very addicting very quickly.

I've had some Amsteel for almost a year now and never got around to making whoopies. I should get off my butt and try it this weekend...now that I've got 2 basic (non-camping) hammocks that I'm using indoors with just treestraps to eye bolts.

everyone needs a little whoopie from time to time

I was going through my gear box last night and saw the last batch I bought and immediately thought about some longer whoopies just to be doing somehting.

I went through 200' in a weekend. It is fun to play with.

100' sounds like a lot but it will go fast. At 14' needed for each whoopie sling you'll use almost all of it up to equip three hammocks.

Have fun and remember to taper the burried ends.

I ordered 200 ft. from http://reddenmarine.com at 21 cents a foot. West Marine was .27 per foot. I ordered Friday and it showed up Monday priority mail. That was quick!

I ordered forest green, but they instead shipped me cyan, like a neon baby blue. I'm glad I didn't get the forest green because it would have been hard to see in the woods.

First whoopie took about 30 minutes because I was taking my time, but the second whoopie took less than 15 minutes.

Other than weight, can someone give me a good reason why a six or eight foot whoopie is better than a 10-ft. whoopie? It just seems the longer whoopie gives me more tree options.
