Welcome to the madness. I've been following stick's blog for most of the year. We've basically been progressing at the same pace to UL backpacking. His videos are very informative and well thought out!

It will be fun to watch his progression into hammocks.

Keep doin what your doin stick!

You'll find this forum very receptive to any questions you may have!

    Raul,

Thanks for the kind words buddy! Like I said, your videos have been very motivational and inspiring...

Unfortunately, I think that I won't be able to progress much more this year... but I am really wanting an UQ... (so maybe I can make something happen with the HG 3 season UQ...)

I tell you though... I went and set up my hammock with my DIY Bug Sock a little earlier before the sun went down and then laid back after eating a nice meal and enjoyed some of our cooler temps that we have had in many a day... about 80 F. Then off in the distance I saw a little lightening and then immediately after a soft rain came... I laid there in the hammock oh so comfy and listened to the rain fall... can we say R-E-L-A-X-I-N-G...

The only thing that would have made it better is if I could set it up in the yard so my tarp would have caught the rain drops and sang me to sleep... however, I do not have trees close enough to pitch it in the yard and I have to use the brick columns under the porch...still nice though...

Hey Stick, welcome! I grew up in Corinth and live in Memphis now. Mighty flat around these parts, but there's plenty of good hanging to be had for just a little drive time.

Howdy Stick. Glad to see you getting in your Hammock more. Used mine last nite for the first over nite hang and woke up refreshed and not sore at all. I'm usually somewhat stiff when waking up after being on the ground.
Keep trying it out, I think your goin to like it more and more.

    Hey LoneOak!

I actually slept in mine last night, however, it was pitched on the porch. I don't have any trees close enough in the yard.

I will say it will take some getting used to. I didn't sleep bad, but it was different. I have been piddling with it all day today. I had to make an adjustment on my DIY Bug Sock, and I made an "organizer" to hang off of my tarp ridgeline. I also made myself a Bishop bag for my hammock. I must say that I like it much better than the stuff sack/pocket that hung off the side of the GT UL hammock. I just cut that off. The bishop bag is much more functional.

Anyway, I do enjoy it. I look forward to trying it out more and more. I am going to make a bug sock for my son's hammock (which I also made myself last year) and hopefully we will be able to go out for a night this weekend. If so, that will be my first official hang!

Stick, I think the more you hang, you will get it lined out and enjoy it even more. It for sure is different than being on the ground. I did my my first official hang, this past Friday nite. I started a thread on it: BNS = Best Nites Sleep.
Watched your new Youtube video's today, I am a suscriber to your channel (which is great btw), so keep up with you and Raul (water monkey) and others here. Ya'll sure have excellent video's.
I'm am thinking of making a snake skin for my hammock, made one for my son's ENO and it works great and he just keeps his eno bugnet attached full time. Sure is nice to hang it and then just slide the snake skin back. Made a small stuff sack for him to keep it in after it is all snaked up. Worked out great.
Looking forward to what you come up with next.
