Looking for a BIG tarp for bike touring

So I'd like a tarp big enough to pitch in A-frame setup and have room for a bicycle to stay dry (and close to me) underneath it. This might mean pitching it asymmetrically - more of it on one side of the A-frame than on the other. Any good suggestions for tarps (or different setups) from anyone else who has hammocked on bike trip?

you might wanna take a look at the Oldman Winter from Wilderness Logics.
while i don't own one (yet), the word on the street is that they are very roomy and highly configurable.

The Jacks R Better 11x10 Cat Cut tarp has a number of tie out loops so that it can be pitched in a Bakers hut configuration or any number of other ways.

i've got this DIY 1.1 silnylon tarp i made. the ridge line is about 14' and the bottom is about 12'. i made the tarp and had the left over material so i made some doors but it doesn't really close completely, there's a bit of a gap depending on how you pitch it. i was using it for winter only. to attached the doors i was playing around with using neodymium magnets. they work pretty well but at the very bottom i think a mitten hook is needed because it's working against the magnets strength when tightening down the doors. total weight in sack with magnets is about 2lbs.

Kelty Noah 12x12. A bit heavy at 2.5 lb, but bomb proof. Rig it with a large porch for your bike. I usually use hiking poles and/or 5ft bamboo poles to make the porch. CAn easily be pitched asymmetrically, 4' one side and 8' the other side of the ridgeline with the standard tie outs. Fairly easy to add additional tie outs if that layout doesn't work for you.Maybe you can carry 5 ft poles on a bike? The tarp costs ca. $50, the bamboo poles 25 cents each. Good value IMO

You can get just about any size (and different weight) tarp from Cooke Custom Sewing. They are a well-established cottage maker that has been doing tarps for many years. Check 'em out!

I second Cooke Custom. The guy makes truly huge tarps with lots of tie outs and lots of options for the set up you described. I have many of his products, like the blue portage pack in the picture. It's all top notch with attention to detail.

The tarp pictured is 10x16, with the 10' side facing forward. A big tarp.

I second the Kelty Noah 12x12. Good price big and strong. Pickup 2 REI tent poles, some guide lines, stakes and you and your bike will be set for just about anything.

I too have a Kelty Noah 12, and it's truly a large tarp. I have downsized for the hammock use, but still use the Kelty from time to time.
