    ENO Hot Spot

Check this out. It appears that ENO is coming out with it's own version of the SPE 2x2 and a double layer hammock. The article states that the Hot Spot will be available in Oct 2011 and the double layer hammock in November. The wings are prefilled with a 6mm CCF and at 9oz I suppose that it is pretty close to comparing to the JRB SPE once you add in some CCF for the wings.

    Here's the link

It is said that copying is a form of flattery and ENO seems to be pretty good at flattery. Example: Pea Pod versus ENO Ember and the SPE versus the Hot Spot.

someone posted about this yesterday I think .it looks pretty cool man. I know its not soooooo original but I guess will still build the hammock community
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

It's a tad insulting to use "Ember" and "Peapod" in the same sentence. The Hot Spot appears to be a pretty good copy, though.

Maybe this will get JRB to start making the SPE again. I like ENO, but would much rather send to money to one of our many fine vendors.

Actually it was Speer who made the SPE, a design of HF member Youngblood just like the Snugfit was. When TTTG took over Speer products after Ed Speer decided to leave the hammock business, they did not choose to manufacture either product. The Speer hammock and PeaPod - plus their own larger version the Polar Pod- are products they kept making.

Haha, you're right! I just checked the lable on the 4x4 SPE that I bought from another HF member several weeks ago. I'll go back and edit my original post to make the correction. Thanks BB

Heh, that's odd. The edit button is not showing on the original post.

Correct. I brain farted it. I just wish someone would start selling them again.
